50th Anniversary Art Show
Several hundred people filled Boston’s Alpha Gallery on Sept. 3 for an art show and reception that launched Commonwealth's
50th anniversary celebration.
Artists
drawn from the alumni, faculty, parents, and student body of the
Commonwealth contributed some three dozen paintings,
photographs, sculptures, and mixed media works to the juried show.
Sales of art and limited edition anniversary posters raised $13,870,
with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the school’s art department.
The
event was the first of several events marking Commonwealth’s 50th
anniversary. The celebration culminates with reunion dinners on Oct.
24, and a gala on Oct. 25 at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the
Arts, 539 Tremont St., in the South End. The works displayed at the show, and several dozen more, will be on display. For more information about the
