This is a general list of all available electronic resources. For subject-specific lists please visit the
research resources page.
Commonwealth Subscriptions
Encyclopædia Britannica Online Reference resource, contains brief information on a
given topic. The links to articles and websites are also useful. From home you will need the username and password available from the
library or on the Student Board in First Class.
Ebsco Advanced Placement Source (title list) A collection of more than 5,550 full-text academic journals, magazines, and newspapers that cover a variety of subject areas. For a list of titles indexed by Advanced Placement Source. From home you will need the password available from the
library or on the Student Board in First Class.
JSTOR (title list) JSTOR (Journal Storage) is a collection of
over 900 full-text scholarly journals in the sciences and humanities. Journals are always included from volume 1, issue 1; the most recently published issues (past
3-5 years) are generally not available. Commonwealth's subscription to JSTOR is only available on-site.
From home, you can access the BPL subscription by logging on to
it through the BPL databases with your library card.
MBLC Subscriptions
Access to the Gale, InfoTrac, and Massachusetts Newstand databases is jointly funded by the
State of Massachusetts under the Massachusetts Library and Information
Network (MLIN) program of the Massachusetts Board of Library
Commissioners, and the six Massachusetts Regional Library Systems. Links will work in-school and remotely in the state of Mass., if you are outside of Mass. you will need to utilize the BPL subscription.
Full suite of Gale databases: offering general and specialized full-text articles and primary
documents. Includes Biography Resource Center, General Reference Center
Gold, and Expanded Academic ASAP.
- Academic OneFile full-text peer-reviewed content for over 10,000 manually indexed
journals and reference works covering all subjects, including the
full-text of The Economist and The New York Times back to 1995 and NPR, CNN & CBC transcripts.
- Biography Resource Center over 400,000 biographies covering literary figures, science,
multicultural studies, business, entertainment, politics, sports,
government, history, current events and the arts.
- Contemporary Literary Criticism Select collection of critical essays on contemporary writers. Each entry also
contains a biographical/critical introduction, a list of principal
works, and sources for further study. Other good literature databases are Literature Resource Center and Books & Authors.
- Educator’s Reference Complete
- Expanded Academic ASAP full-text scholarly journals, new magazines and newspapers for all academic disciplines.
- General BusinessFile ASAP Includes directory listings for over 150,000 companies as well as
investment analysts' reports on major companies and industries.
- General Reference Center Gold general interest database for full-text and images from magazines, reference books, and newspapers.

Info Trac OneFile Provides instant, user-friendly access to an unprecedented number of
periodicals, including 5,050 full-text titles, putting 35 million
database records and more than 9,000 titles.

BPL Electronic Resources

your BPL card, you have access to a multitude of online resources
including The New York Times (1851-2001), Global News Bank, LearnATest,
and many more. BPL card applications are available in the Commonwealth
