Meet Curt

Class of 2013
From Boston
Before Commonwealth: International School of Boston

One reason why Curt chose Commonwealth is that it’s near his home on Beacon Hill. But this city-dweller was surprised by how much his new school made use of the Back Bay, including places like the Boston Public Library (BPL). Another important factor in his decision? Sports:

Commonwealth’s history classes begin with primary sources: the writings, art, architecture, music, and other cultural evidence left by peoples from past centuries. This direct connection gave Curt a new appreciation for Ancient History in 9th grade and Medieval World History in 10th:

Every Commonwealth student learns a second language. Foreign travel and student exchanges provide extra motivation to study grammar and vocabulary. In the summer after their class, Spanish 3 students travel to Peru. Looking forward to the trip, Curt found himself immersed in the language in ways that went far beyond mere textbook learning:
