Admissions Process

At Commonwealth, we’re looking for intellectually curious and creative students from a wide range of backgrounds. We invite you to experience the school virtually to see whether Commonwealth is the right environment for you.

Request Information

If you are considering admission for the fall of 2021 and beyond, please fill out an online inquiry form. We will send you a viewbook and keep you up to date on virtual admissions events.

Attend an Online Admissions Event

The health and safety of our students and families—future as well as current—is our top priority. In light of the current conditions, we have moved all of our fall and winter admissions events online. While it’s not a required part of the process, in order to get a feel for the school before applying, we encourage you to join us for one or more of our upcoming events.

Interested students may apply online through Ravenna. We also offer the option of downloading and printing an application to fill out by hand. The application fee is $60 for U.S. residents and $120 for international applicants. If the application fee presents a challenge to your family, please contact our office to request a fee waiver, and we will gladly extend one. You can learn more about admission for international students here.

Deadline: February 1 for domestic applicants; January 1 for international applicants.

We welcome students and parents/guardians to get to know us better through an online interview and virtual tour. You will meet with a member of the admissions committee, see the inside of our building, get a sense of our city location, and hear from a current student or two.

Deadline: February 1

“Visit” for the Day

After your interview, you will spend a day attending online classes, all-school meeting, and lunch with a student host. You will also complete two assessments (instead of admission essays you would write on your own) that become part of your application.

Deadline: February 1

Additional Materials

Submit transcripts, three school recommendations (Principal, Counselor, or Advisor; English teacher; and math teacher), and a recent essay with teacher feedback.

Given the disruption caused by the pandemic, and in the interest of equity and access, we will no longer require applicants to submit SSAT or ISEE results this admission season.

Deadline: February 1
