Tuition and Financial Aid

Since our founding, we have been dedicated to increasing access and welcoming as many qualified students as possible. Our need-based financial aid program empowers us to attract strong applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and to compose a well-rounded and talented student body. To that end, we are committed to partnering with families to meet the cost of a Commonwealth education.

Financial Aid Grants and More

Commonwealth’s financial aid includes textbooks, all-school trips, participation in clubs and activities, and, in many cases, public transportation. We also offer discounted standardized testing, test preparation, and tutoring, and we extend additional grants for summer programs and school-sponsored international trips. For the 2023–2024 school year, Commonwealth also extended $11,600 in additional technology grants to eligible families for purchasing a MacBook Pro laptop, printer, and software at a reduced cost. On average, participants paid $450 for this package.

Access and Affordability

Financial aid ensures that all students can avail themselves of all opportunities at Commonwealth through grants for technology, tutoring, international travel, standardized tests, transportation, and more.

  • $25,000–$40,000 annually typically goes toward Chatfield Cultural Scholarships so that students can participate in travel and exchanges, as well as travel-related independent projects.
  • $25,000–$40,000 annually goes to professional tutoring for students.
  • $11,600 in additional annual technology grants are made available to eligible families and can be applied to purchasing a MacBook Pro laptop, printer, and software at a reduced cost.
  • Discounted standardized testing and public transportation passes are also available to students with financial aid grants.
The financial aid program exemplifies our student’s engagement with Commonwealth’s spirit of community, diversity, and generosity. The support we receive makes it possible for her to immerse herself in a breadth of opportunities and camaraderie that inform and grow those very values, which she’s sure to take with her beyond her years here.Parent, Class of 2023
