Community Giving Report 2022–2023
Commonwealth School’s mission is to educate young people from diverse backgrounds to become knowledgeable, thoughtful, and creative adults, capable of careful analysis, fruitful cooperation, responsible leadership, and deep commitment. Donations to The Commonwealth Fund help us work to fulfill this mission and provide opportunities to our students, now and in the future.

"We chose to do those things...not to be better than others but to unlock the boundless potential of our best selves."

"That is one of the greatest things about this school. It is not only a school of incredible academic rigor but a tight-knit, loving community.”
Revenue from tuition supports a portion of the cost of a Commonwealth education. The Commonwealth Fund and earnings from the School’s endowment make up the difference.
After three years of COVID-related expenses including significant technological upgrades, testing protocols, and mitigation measures, in the 2022–2023 year we committed to replenishing our reserve fund to once again equip the school for the unexpected.
In the 2022–2023 fiscal year, 630 alumni/ae, parents, grandparents, and friends contributed $1,298,324 to The Commonwealth Fund.
We are deeply grateful for our community’s generous support in the 2022–2023 fiscal year. And a special shout-out to members of Commonwealth’s three giving societies, whose generosity establishes the foundation of the The Commonwealth Fund each year.
