Commonwealth Seniors Recognized in 2024 National Merit® Scholarship Program

Commonwealth School is pleased to share outcomes from the 2024 National Merit® Scholarship Program to date.

Nineteen of this year's thirty-four seniors have been recognized in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program, either as Semifinalists or Commended students.

Representing the state of Massachusetts, the ten Semifinalists include:

  • Thomas Du ’24
  • Mirai Duintjer Tebbens Nishioka ’24
  • Henry Levenson ’24
  • Aaron Li ’24
  • Charlie Liebenberg ’24
  • Will Narasimhan ’24
  • Eve Shapiro ’24
  • Jay Sweitzer-Shalit ’24
  • Olivia Wang ’24

These National Merit Semifinalists join a nationwide pool of more than 16,000 students, representing less than 1% of graduating high school seniors in the U.S. and including the highest-scoring entrants in each state. 

An additional nine Commonwealth seniors received notice of the National Merit Letter of Commendation. These are students whose PSAT scores put them in the top ~3% of test takers nationally:

  • Eliza Lamster ’24
  • Sienna Mathur ’24
  • Matteo Sabatine ’24
  • Sophia Seitz-Shewmon ’24
  • Dava Sitkoff ’24
  • Lizzy Wakefield ’24
  • Paris Wu ’24
  • Rayna Yu ’24 

More than 1.3 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test®. Finalists will be announced in February of 2024, and National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced between April and July.
