Commonwealth Seniors Recognized in 2026 National Merit® Scholarship Program

Commonwealth School is pleased to share outcomes from the 2026 National Merit® Scholarship Program to date.

Twenty-five of this year's thirty-eight seniors have been recognized in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program, either as Semifinalists or Commended students.

Representing the state of Massachusetts are six Commonwealth senior semifinalists:

  • Jacob Signorovitch 
  • Brandon Zhou
  • Thomas Zhou

They join a nationwide pool of more than 16,000 students, representing less than 1% of graduating high school seniors in the U.S. and including the highest-scoring entrants in each state. 

An additional nineteen Commonwealth seniors received notice of the National Merit Letter of Commendation. These are students whose PSAT scores put them in the top ~3% of test takers nationally:

More than 1.3 million juniors in about 20,000 high schools entered the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test®. Finalists will be announced in February of 2026, and National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced between April and July.
