Cross Country and Boys’ Soccer Finals Bring Fall Sports to a Close

The beginning of November capped off the end of the fall sports season at Commonwealth School, as well as our seniors’ time on the Cross Country and Boys’ Soccer teams.

On November 2, Boys’ Soccer faced off against Brimmer and May School in a playoff game. While the match didn’t end with a Commonwealth win, each member of the team brought their energy and fought hard in a game that Coach César Pérez described as closer than the score could tell. Seniors Brandon ’22, Connor ’22, Kyle ’22, Hanming ’22, Thomas ’22, and Tom ’22 were recognized at the game’s end for completing their last season.

“The team spirit, the pluckiness of these kids, and the commitment of the whole team have made it a very memorable season for me,” Coach Pérez reflected.

“I’d just like to thank the three senior captains, Thomas, Brandon, and Kyle, for all the work, on and off the field, they put into our team this year,” said Boys’ Soccer player Ben ’23.

The following day, Cross Country runners competed in their championship race, with Will ’23 earning 12th place in the all-league rankings. Additional recognition went to Muhammad ’22, who ran in his final event.

While the Commonwealth community will miss seeing fall athletes—especially seniors—take to the fields in the coming months, we look forward to this winter’s lineup of basketball games and the fall season to come.
