Sophia ’22 has earned the Gold Level award for graduating seniors from the Program Development Committee for U.S. Figure Skating. Sophia's honor caps off four years of achievement on the ice as a Commonwealth student—as well as more than a decade of training.
According to the Committee, this honor "recognizes the hard work of student athletes who have participated in figure skating throughout high school; awards are given at the Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels based on a skater's level of competitive achievement in high school. Selection for this award speaks to a skater's continued commitment to succeeding in their athletic and academic endeavors."
During her time at Commonwealth, Sophia won the Bronze Medal as a sophomore at the 2019 Boston Open, hosted through the Skating Club of Boston. Along with her intermediate level team Ice Mates, she was a champion at the Synchronized Skating National Championships in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
As a junior, Sophia was one of the 2021 National High School Final Champions with Commonwealth's skating team. She most recently earned a pewter (fourth-place) medal at the national level in 2022 with her junior level team Lexettes. Congratulations on this well-deserved award, Sophia!
