Financial Aid Information for Current Families
Families with Financial Aid Grants
Like many independent schools, Commonwealth uses Clarity as our financial aid application platform. The Clarity application typically takes less than thirty minutes to complete, and it is mobile-friendly, so you can complete it from anywhere. You can save your progress and return to the Clarity application at any time. (See the Clarity quick-start guides on this page for additional information.)
Additionally, Clarity removes the need to upload your 2024 1040 and any W-2s by transferring them directly from the IRS. This reduces the amount of information you will need to enter manually.
If your family has a financial aid grant for 2025–2026 and you intend to reapply for financial aid for the 2026–2027 school year, please submit an application on Clarity by January 15, 2026. At the end of the application, there is a $60 submission fee. Clarity automatically assigns fee waivers to families based on income and assets. Please reach out to us with any concerns about the fee.
In addition to completing the application, we ask that you upload PDF versions of all 2025 W-2s and 1099s to Clarity by February 10, 2026.
We will reach out to you with a reminder email in December. Our committee will make financial aid determinations and share them with families in February 2026.
As always, please reach out to Carrie Healy, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, with any questions or concerns.
Families Without Financial Aid Grants
Families who begin at Commonwealth paying the full tuition typically continue to do so in subsequent years, so we encourage you to carefully consider how you will fund your Commonwealth student’s education for the duration of their time with us. However, we understand that circumstances sometimes arise that impact families’ finances. These circumstances might include a job loss, a sudden and significant decrease in income, a serious illness, a change in family size, or an additional child in a tuition-charging school.
If your family did not have a grant for the 2025–2026 school year, and you experienced or anticipate a major change in circumstance, we ask that you reach out to Carrie Healy, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, by December 1, 2025, in order to indicate your interest in applying for financial aid for the 2026–2027 school year. Your email should include a detailed description of the changes in your family’s financial circumstances since your student’s initial enrollment. While we can’t guarantee that our budget will allow for additional grants for returning families, we welcome conversations about affordability.
